Welfare

Your child's welfare is of the utmost importance to us. The staff in the nursery have many years of experience in providing for the care and welfare of children, some being parents themselves. All of our staff are qualified to a minimum standard of NVQ Level II/III. All the staff are also qualified in paediatric first aid and basic food hygiene. There are currently 19 full time and 4 part time members of staff. This includes a full and part time cook.

We are registered with the Care and Social Services Inspectorate of Wales (CSSIW), 0-10 Children’s Partnership (formerly EYDCP), members of the Wales Pre-School Playgroup Association (Wales PPA) and the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA). We are registered to take 46 children per day aged between 6 weeks and 8 years of age.

The children within the nursery are cared for by nominated Keyworkers who are responsible for the various groups and their set activities. Each child is placed into a group according to age and ability. We have named these groups in keeping with the school theme, and they are as follows:-

Staff to children ratios
0 – 1 years old – Babies 1 : 3
1 – 2 years old – Reception 1 : 3
2 – 3 years old – Infants/Juniors 1 : 4
3 – 5 years old – Pre-school 1 : 8

These are the minimum staffing levels as required by law.

All staff hold a current CRB Enhanced Disclosure to ensure the safety of the children.

The nursery offers a high level of security with CCTV and a fully integrated alarm and fire detection system. This system is regularly checked and maintained and meets all fire regulations.

All children who attend Nursery must be signed in and out of a daily register by a parent/guardian and will only leave with the named ‘authorised’ person. If staff are unsure about the person attending to collect a child, Management staff will be asked to verify the identity of the person via a password facility. Emergency contact information is required and is kept in each individual child’s file in the event of an Emergency. Parents must inform Nursery Manager of any changes to personal or contact details.
